Yes, if you want an AI agent to do the editing or need to work on Windows or in a browser. If you edit by hand on a Mac or iPad, Final Cut Pro is a fast, polished tool.

Does ChatCut work with Final Cut Pro?

Not directly. ChatCut exports XML timelines for Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve but not Final Cut Pro XML (FCPXML), so a ChatCut edit reaches Final Cut Pro as a rendered video.

Is ChatCut free?

Yes. The Free plan includes the editor, uploads, transcription, captions and standard exports. AI generation and the built-in agent use credits, and AI video generation needs a paid plan.

Yes. The ChatCut plugin runs in Claude Code and the Codex app, and ChatCut Desktop connects Claude Code, Codex and other agents through a local MCP server. Your agent edits the real timeline, which you can keep adjusting by hand.

Where does ChatCut run?

ChatCut Desktop runs on macOS 13 or newer and Windows 10 or newer, and the web app runs in a desktop browser at app.chatcut.io. There is no native phone app, and Linux is not supported.
